Your questions

A clearer route to the answer.

Open a question for the detail. The right specification always depends on the site and its intended use.

What is EcoTrough made from?

EcoTrough is a modular polymer cable trough system. It can be specified with polymer or GRP lid options. Bespoke GRP cable troughs are also available as a separate product.

How does EcoTrough compare with concrete cable troughs?

EcoTrough is designed as a lightweight alternative to heavy concrete troughing. Its lower weight can simplify transportation, handling and positioning on site. Compare the route configuration, lid loading and installation requirements for your project when choosing between systems.

Where is EcoTrough manufactured?

EcoTrough is manufactured in Britain. The modular polymer system is designed for infrastructure projects that need adaptable cable routes.

How does the modular system work?

Straight troughs, bends and junctions connect to create a route suited to the site. Blanking plates close unused exits, and compatible modules can extend or redirect the route as requirements change.

Which cables can it route?

The system is intended to protect and route power, control and communications cables. Share your cable schedule and layout so the modules and covers can be considered against your project requirements.

What lid options are available?

Options include open mesh and solid top GRP grating lids, alongside heavy duty polymer solid top lids. The right cover depends on the location, loading and installation method.

Is EcoTrough suitable for vehicle areas?

Cover configurations are being developed for different loading conditions, with further testing planned. No completed vehicle-area classification or road-use approval is claimed. Send us the intended traffic, ground and installation details so we can discuss current evidence and suitability.

How much does an EcoTrough section weigh?

The individual straight cable trough weighs 28 kg, excluding its separate lid, support lid, end plates and other components. A four-way base weighs 24 kg. See the component-weight table for all six supplied individual weights; an assembled route depends on the selected parts.

What testing has EcoTrough completed?

Initial testing has taken place and further testing is planned. The test-rig photograph shows development work. Ask us for the current evidence relevant to your specification.

Can I add to the route later?

Yes. Compatible EcoTrough modules can be incorporated as a site expands or its cable layout changes. The route and available space should be planned around any likely future branches.

Is EcoTrough suitable for outdoor sites?

The corrosion-resistant polymer system is intended for outdoor infrastructure, including energy, rail, utility and industrial settings. Cover and installation choices should reflect the site's exposure and loading.

Are the components recyclable?

EcoTrough’s polymer components are recyclable. The available GRP lid options are a different material, so check the material data and local end-of-life arrangements for each part of your specification.

What do you need to prepare a quotation?

Send your route drawing or approximate dimensions, cable layout, preferred lid type, expected foot or vehicle traffic, site conditions and required delivery date to info@ecotrough.co.uk. We can then discuss the suitable modules and covers.

How are EcoTrough sections transported?

The lighter polymer sections can simplify loading, transport and distribution compared with heavy concrete troughing. The number of sections per delivery and site handling plan depend on the chosen modules and vehicle access.

How easy is the system to install?

Its lower weight and interlocking modules can help simplify positioning and alignment. The final support, cover and installation design should be agreed for the site conditions and loading.

How long can polymer cable troughs last?

Service life depends on the environment, loading, installation and maintenance. The material is intended for durable outdoor infrastructure, but a fixed lifespan should be assessed against the project specification.

Can EcoTrough information support an EPD-related project assessment?

We can discuss the available EcoTrough material, manufacturing and product information for your project environmental assessment. Send us the documentation requirements so we can identify what is available for the specified trough and cover materials.
